I have not decided on the pronunciation of szmCt, but /és zíː ém síː tíː/ as it is in the alphabet or /és zíː ém ˈsɪti:/.

The history

In the past, openMSX was developed in three parts: the main unit, the launcher, and the debugger. Unfortunately, the launcher and debugger were not developed well enough, and since openMSX 20.0, both launcher and debugger functions have been re-implemented in the main body. The previous launcher and debugger, which are no longer needed, have been deprecated. These two will not be updated in the future.

This work, szmCt, is my own modification of this old launcher catapult (no debugger included). It was also something I started with the intention of using for my own use after it was deprecated.

The people working on openMSX are not involved in any way with this work. If you have any questions, please contact me, Suzumizaki-Kimitaka. The license of this work is GPL. I am not responsible for any improvements that may be released without my knowledge, but I will not be able to respond to such improvements. I will of course try to respond to those who have purchased directly from me, but there may be cases in which I am unable to respond in a way that satisfies you.

The autoconf/automake-like something has been scrapped in favor of a CMake

As wxWidgets moves to the 3.x series, the wxT macro has been replaced to allow builds under wxUSE_UNSAFE_WXSTRING_CONV conditions (see: related WXBLOG article)

Event handler definitions by macros such as wxDECLARE_EVENT_TABLE have been moved to using wxEvtHandler::Bind(see: Events and Event Handling / Dynamic Event Handling).

I have actually utilized wxLOG_COMPONENT. Even when sending/receiving is displayed, FPS requests/responses are used in a system that does not display them until separately specified.

In conjunction with the CMake migration, wxWidgets itself is now a git submodule so that you don't have to worry about how to build it.

I prepared szmCt own simple SAX Parser and excluded libxml2.

I have been working on reorganizing the code, though not enough, to take advantage of the features up to C++17. In particular, we have reduced the number of C-style casts to a minimum, using dynamic_cast and the like, and I have tried to include non-nullptr checks when taking XRC-derived resources in particular.

It now utilizes wxrc in wxWidgets and includes xrc files and image files in the executable. It is no longer necessary to copy resources/dialog or resources/bitmaps before launching.

However, instead, translation-related files require a similar arrangement.
