Media Asset Management Application — Operation Guide

MaterialManager is composed of multiple panels. Each panel can be moved and detached by drag & drop.

📁 Project

Manage assets by project. Link assets to projects to track their usage.

📚 Collection

Group any set of assets. Smart Collections automatically apply the current filter.

Lists all registered assets. Use search, filter, and sort to quickly find the assets you need.

🔍 Preview / Metadata

View images, play video/audio, and check file info, tags, and copyright for the selected asset.

Show/Hide Panels: Toggle panel visibility from the menu View → Panels.

đŸ“ĨImporting Assets

Method 1: Register a Folder and Scan

Click File → Add Folder (or the + button in the Folder tab on the left panel).
Select the folder you want to watch in the folder selection dialog.
Scanning starts and supported files are automatically added to the Asset Browser.

Scanning is recursive (includes sub-folders) and can be changed in Settings. Sub-folders that cannot be accessed are automatically skipped.

Method 2: Drag & Drop

Drag files from Explorer and drop them onto the Asset Browser.
Only supported file types are automatically imported.

Switching View Modes

Grid View

Displays thumbnails in a grid. Switch with the Grid button in the top bar or View → Grid View.

List View

Displays file name, type, size, and modified date in a list. Switch with the List button or View → List View.

Changing Thumbnail Size

In Grid View, drag the Size slider in the top bar left or right to change thumbnail size (80px–200px).

Status Bar

The status bar at the bottom of the screen shows the current display state.

  • Assets: N / M — Filtered count / total count
  • Selected: N — Number of currently selected assets
  • Total: X GB — Total file size of filtered assets

Change the sort order using the sort combo box and direction button in the top bar.

đŸ–ŧī¸Image Preview

Selecting an asset displays the image in the Preview tab on the right panel.

Zoom

Use the + / − buttons to zoom in/out in 25% steps (25%–400%). Mouse wheel also works.

Fit to Window

Click the Fit button (or Ctrl+0) to reset the view to fit the window.

Pan

When zoomed in, drag the image to move the viewing area.

Resolution Display

The Metadata tab shows the resolution as "Width × Height".

â–ļī¸Video & Audio Playback

Selecting a video or audio file shows the playback controls.

Volume Adjustment (Audio & Video)

Use the Volume slider at the bottom of the Preview panel to adjust playback volume.
Click Normalize to normalize the volume to peak level.
Click Apply & Save to write the adjusted volume back to the file.

Apply & Save overwrites the original file. Back up the file first if needed.

đŸˇī¸Tag Management

Creating a Tag

Right-click an asset → select Edit Tags...
In the Create New Tag area at the bottom, enter a tag name and color.
Check the new tag's checkbox and click Confirm.

Bulk Tagging Multiple Assets

Select multiple assets (Ctrl+Click or range select).
Right-click → select Edit Tags...
Tags applied to only some assets are shown as "(partial)". Confirming applies them to all selected assets.

Editing and Deleting Tags

In the Tag Editor dialog, click the pencil icon next to a tag to rename or recolor it, or click the trash icon to delete it.

Deleting a tag removes it from all assets that have it.

Filtering by Tag

Click a tag button below the search box in the Asset Browser to show only assets with that tag. Multiple tags are combined with AND logic.

📋Project Management

Creating and Managing Projects

Adding Assets to a Project

Select a project in the Project panel.
Select assets in the Asset Browser and drag & drop them onto the project's asset list.

Select multiple assets and drop them all at once to add them in bulk.

Preview from Project Asset List

Click an asset in the project's asset list to update the Preview and Metadata panels on the right.

💡
You can check asset content directly from the project list without returning to the Asset Browser.

Exporting from a Project

Use the buttons at the bottom of the Project panel to export the assets registered in the project.

Copy to Folder

Copy asset files to a specified folder.

CSV / JSON / Copy Paths

Export the asset list in text format or copy to clipboard.

Creator List

Export a text file listing the author names from copyright information.

📚Collection Management

Regular Collection

Create with the + button. Manually add assets by dragging & dropping from the Asset Browser.

Smart Collection ⚡

Create with the ⚡ button. Saves the current search/filter conditions and automatically displays matching assets.

Preview from Collection Asset List

Click an asset in the collection's asset list to update the Preview and Metadata panels on the right.

Quickly preview asset content while browsing your collection.

Refreshing a Smart Collection

Selecting a smart collection automatically re-queries the asset list. The Refresh button (🔄) triggers a manual re-query.

📁Watch Folder Management

Manage registered watch folders in the Folder tab of the left panel.

Removing a watch folder removes all assets under it from the library. The actual files are not deleted.

📤Export

Select assets and use the buttons in the top bar or the export bar at the bottom of the Asset Browser. If no assets are selected, all visible assets are exported.

Copy Path

Copy file paths of selected assets to clipboard. Multiple selections are separated by newlines.

CSV Export

Save asset info (name, type, size, path, tags, etc.) as a CSV file.

JSON Export

Save asset info as a JSON file.

Copy to Folder

Copy selected files to a specified folder. Duplicate file names are automatically renamed.

💡
The Remove button removes assets from the library only — files are not deleted.

🔁Duplicate File Management

Open Tools → Duplicate Manager from the menu.
Click Find Duplicates. The app detects identical files by file hash.
Duplicate groups are displayed. Select the file to Keep in each group.
Choose a Delete Method and click Delete Selected Duplicates.
Delete Method
  • Remove from DB only: Removes from the library (file remains on disk).
  • Delete from disk too: Removes from the library and permanently deletes the file from disk.

Delete from disk cannot be undone. Verify the files you want to keep are marked as "Keep" before proceeding.

Use Recalculate Hash to recalculate file hashes after modifying files.

❌Handling Missing Files

If a registered file has been moved or deleted, a ✕ mark appears on its thumbnail.

Auto-Search and Re-link by Folder

When the Missing Files dialog appears, click Search in Folder...
Select the folder where the files were moved.
If a matching hash is found, the path is automatically updated.

Manually Reset Path

Right-click a missing asset → select Reset Path... to individually select the file and re-link it (this option is only visible for missing files).

Open the Settings dialog from Tools → Settings.

💾Backup & Restore

Creating a Backup

Click Tools → Create Backup from the menu.
Select a destination folder.
The library database and settings file are backed up.

Restoring from a Backup

Click Tools → Restore Backup from the menu.
Select the backup file.
After confirmation, the app restarts and the restore is complete.

Restoring will revert your current library data to the state at the time of the backup.

đŸ–ŧī¸Regenerate Thumbnails

Available from the Tools menu.

Missing Only

Regenerates thumbnails only for assets that don't have one. Use this for routine maintenance.

Regenerate All

Forces regeneration of thumbnails for all assets. This may take a long time.

📊Library Statistics

Open Tools → Library Statistics to view the current state of your library.

Switch Theme

Select Light or Dark from Tools → Theme. Changes apply immediately.

Select Japanese or English from Tools → Language. Changes apply immediately.

📝Notes

You can type free text in the Note field in the Preview or Metadata panel. Notes are saved automatically.

✅
Notes are stored in the library separately from the file, so they are preserved even if the file is moved to another location.
